Kilsby village news, April 17.
LOCAL HISTORYHarry Smith gave an excellent, informative talk to the local history society about the ridge and furrow system of agriculture, with reference to local examples, and was thanked on behalf of the audience by Betty Hussey
.
The next meeting on Thursday, May 1, is a history society walk around Kilsby.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTEAt the April women's institute meeting members and visitors were fascinated by Mrs J Warner's tales of child-bearing and child-rearing from the 16th-18th centuries.
She brought an interesting collection of artefacts from her museum of 'infantilia' and provided a really lively lecture.
Plans were made for further craft evenings, visits to Rugby Theatre and to An Evening with Ann Widdecombe in Northampton.
BREEGE QUIGLEYBreege Quigley, whose husband Tom is landlord of the Red Lion at Kilsby, has sadly died aged 52. Breege had been ill for some time.
While those of us who knew her when she was at her sparkly best in the pub are glad that she is no longer suffering, we are sorry to hear of her untimely death. She leaves Tom and a daughter, Laura.
A funeral service for Breege will be held at English Martyrs Church in Rugby tomorrow (Friday) at 9.15am.
