Village news for Long Buckby (June 18)
ECOLOGICAL SOCIETY REPORT FOR MAY
An interesting month with numerous cuckoo reports, including Brington Road and the Stenhouse Close area.
Late in the month a spotted flycatcher and garden warbler were seen, also the small migrator
y falcon called the hobby was seen about the village by several people.
Butterflies of note were the holly blue (Watts Way) and lots of painted ladies were about plus the usual common butterflies.
A muntjac deer was seen at Kevin Spokes' barn on the back road to West Haddon.
Mrs Spokes would like to thank all those who rang and informed her of cuckoos heard in district and county.
The records will be forwarded to the British Trust for Ornithology. General wildlife sightings as usual to Peter Spokes, 01327 842327.
RUGBY CLUB DINNER DANCE
The next supper dance will be on Friday, June 26 at the rugby club, 7.45 for 8pm start, costing £5 including supper. David Watts will provide the music. Tickets from Bill Mawby on 01327 842551.
