Village news for Preston Capes (October 23)
CHURCH SERVICES
Sunday, 11am, united benefice service of holy communion at Badby church, which will also be the rector's farewell. (No service at Preston Capes.)
HARVEST SUPPER
Last Monday's harvest supper at the
village hall was – once again – a great success, with just under £870 being raised for church funds.
Thanks should go to Anabel and her ladies for a delicious supper of shepherds pie and fruit crumbles. Thanks also to Calum Lockie and Trevor Clarke, whose lively auctioneering raised around £300 of the above amount.
HOW TIME FLIES!
A brief mention in last week's Daventry Express reminded me that it's now 10 years since Preston Capes hosted the National Ploughing Championships and almost 10 years exactly since I started writing this column!
Please carry on sending me details of any forthcoming events, news, achievements etc.
Please call phone 01327 361656 or email PennyEves@aol.com.
WI COFFEE MORNING AND CAKE SALE
In the village hall on Saturday from 10.30am-midday. The ladies of Preston Capes WI have been busy baking, so get there early as these cakes sell fast.
Afterwards, enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat with friends and neighbours.
Admission free, refreshments 50p.
