CHURCH SERVICES
Sunday, 6pm, evensong.

BOB'S NATURE NOTES FOR APRIL
A red kite was reported on the 6th and one on the 15th flying over Church Wood.
While I was watching this kite, there were two ravens trying t
o see if off.
We have in the close vicinity of the village centre a pair of buzzards performing their mating flights, so I am hopeful we shall have a new family later on in the year.
I have seen my first female swallow arrive over the village, and on the 19th we had a very well-fed male swallow.
House martins also over the village on the 23rd, with sand martins in good numbers over Fawsley lake from the 9th.
Most of our jackdaws are now feeding young, as are our rooks.
Lapwing are very busy to the east of the village, hoping they won't get disturbed before their eggs get predated.
A good flock of golden plovers have been reported on the fields in the last few days, with wheatears passing through close to the village on the 26th, common tern over Fawsley lakes on the 27th and willow warblers also on the 27th.
I heard my first cuckoo
on the 28th and again on the 30th.
