Emily Bronte's work and Bollywood will combine in a new musical interpretation of Wuthering Heights at the Belgrade Theatre.
The classic tale of passion, jealousy and revenge, originally set in the cold Yorkshire Moors, has been moved to 1770s Rajasthan by production company Tamasha.

And in place of doomed lovers Cathy and Heathcliff are Shakuntala and Krishan, who struggle in the rigid social hierarchy, inequality of wealth and Victorian influences of their surroundings.

Tamasha's version of the 1847 novel aims to retain the original work's dark and brooding atmosphere while adding elements of Bollywood cinema and Western musicals.

Director Kristine Landon-Smith is known for her work on the musical Fourteen Songs Two Weddings and a Funeral and writer Deepak Verma will be remembered for his role as Sanjay in EastEnders.

Musical supervisor John Rigby has worked with many of the UK's leading orchestras and on some of the West End's biggest musicals.

The show runs from June 9 to 13.

Tickets cost from £9.30 to £18.11.
