Canalside venues in the area see the return of musical theatre company Mikron next week with two new and topical plays in their summer waterways tour.
With the credit crunch in mind, Mikron will perform Debt-O-Nation by Richard Povall, a play following the existence of Mr and Mrs Average.

Using song and humour the play documents their financial struggle - not helped by her shopping habit and his radio phone-in addiction. The Consumer Credit Counselling Service aided research.

Mikron's second play, Fair Trade by Mike Lucastracks the development of the Co-operative Movement from its roots in the early part of the 19th century when the Industrial Revolution resulted in exploitation and misery for many working people. It was a battle to put good food on the table in even the poorest households.

First stop for Fair Trade is The Wharf Inn at Fenny Compton on Monday at 8pm. Food will be available. Call 01295 770332 or visit www.thewharfinn.co.uk

On Tuesday Debt-O-Nation will be performed at The Boat, Birdingbury Wharf, Southam, from 7.30pm - details on 01926 812349.

At 7pm on Thursday the Waterman canalside pub and restaurant at Hatton is will host Fair Trade in its gardens. The advice is bring your own blankets and chairs - details on 01926 492427 or www.thewatermanpub.co.uk

On Friday July 25 Fair Trade will be performed at the Tom O'Wood in Finwood Road, Rowington, from 7.30pm - details on 01564 782252. For further tour dates see the website: www.mikron.org.uk
