A diversity of musical involvement and experience is one way of describing the career of Chris Gibbons.
The voice and music of the Kineton-based blues artist has been heard from London’s Covent Garden, to the silver screen, to the pubs of Leamington.
Chris began performing for the Royal Opera House as a teenager, but by the 1960s he had replaced his violin for a guitar and earned a record deal playing as a guitarist inspired by the likes of BB King and Elmore James.
Working alongside producer Mick Jones, of Foreigner fame, Chris’s knowledge of operatic instruments allowed him to write whole arrangements while working on this contract.
Among the other famous names Chris has played alongside as a session guitarist are Ben E King and Viola Willis and he has also worked on tracks for Leo Sayer and John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin
He now writes production music for the major film company Universal with his work appearing on the Path to 9/11, an American mini-series starring Harvey Kietel.
But Chris still feels at home playing live in intimate venues and has recently appeared at the Simple Simon in Warwick and The Newbold Comyn Arms in Leamington with his four-piece band.
He returns to the Leamington venue with his blend of Blues and Soul on April 5.
