In The Musical of Musicals (The Musical), one story becomes five delightful musicals, each written in the distinctive style of a different master of the form, from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Stephen Sondheim.

The show was the longest running show in the York Theatre Company’s 35-year history before moving to off-Broadway. The Talisman production is directed by Steve Smith.

Theatre publicity manager John Francis said: “If you enjoy Rogers and Hammerstein, Lloyd Webber or Kander and Ebb, , you’re in for a really enjoyable evening.

“Picking out the shows and songs being referenced and their plot lines is great fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the West End production, and what I’ve seen in rehearsal isn’t going to disappoint.

“Steve has got a fine cast here. The 90 minute piece zips along with quick changes and delectable choreography.”

Variety magazine has praised many aspects of the show, describing writer Eric Rockwell as “gifted enough to write themes that have the proper air, and once the ear settles on his approach, the show zips along.”

The show runs from Wednesday April 5 to Saturday April 8 at 7.30pm. Call 856548 or visit talismantheatre.co.uk to book.
