Tickets on sale for festival featuring Jason Donovan, Kim Wilde and other '80s stars in Coventry

Tickets for StepBack '“ which will see some of the biggest names from the 1980s come together for one night of live music in the region '“ go on sale this week.

Tony Hadley, Jason Donovan, Paul Young, T’Pau, Nik Kershaw, Kim Wilde and Go West are among the names that are set to perform at the Ericsson Indoor Arena in Coventry on Saturday, October 14.

Tickets are limited to 10,000 people and an initial 2,000 early bird tickets sold out in less than a week while VIP tickets - which give fans the chance to meet the stars – were snapped up within hours of release.

A further 8,000 tickets go on general sale on Wednesday, March 1 at 10am.

The event will be compered by Smooth FM’s Nigel Freshman and is being promoted by Coventry-based promoters Showtime Promotions.

Dan Nelmes, director of Showtime Promotions, said: “The initial response we have seen for StepBack has been incredible.

“The evening will be a memorable celebration of the sounds of a very special musical decade.

“There is a real buzz of excitement surrounding the event as it’s a rare opportunity to see so many iconic stars on one stage in one night.

“It’s also brilliant news that Coventry is attracting artists of this calibre, and can only help with the bid to become City of Culture in 2021.

“We’re expecting tickets to sell fast, so we’d urge people to act fast to avoid disappointment.

StepBack is the latest concert to be held inside the Ricoh Arena’s Ericsson Indoor Arena, where Craig David is also due to perform on April 8.

Andy Gibb, managing director of the Ricoh Arena, said: “We’re really looking forward to hosting StepBack and welcoming a range of top acts from the 80s to our venue.

“This is the first time we have staged an 80s event like this with some of the top acts of that era, it promises to be a fun night.”

General sale tickets for StepBack cost £50 plus a booking fee and go on sale on March 1 at 10am via www.ricoharena.com and in person at the Ricoh Arena box office.
