And those who join Sing It Loud will get to exercise their vocal chords to a wide variety of tunes - including Happy by Pharrell Williams, Gold by Spandau Ballet, Titanium by David Guetta and the Hallelujah Chorus.

There is no audition to join, but the choir is holding a free taster session at Arnold Lodge School in Kenilworth Road on September 10 for anyone interested in seeing what rehearsals will be like. Rehearsals - which will include basic vocal coaching and social time - then take place every Wednesday at the school, leading up to a concert on December 12.

Choir leader Seb Farrall said: “The mutual trust and friendship that you get from singing together is incredible. It has a power to lift your spirit, to bond people together and to create real happiness. It’s amazing to watch as ‘ordinary’ people stand on a stage and create the most fantastic sound together - it’s my greatest joy.”

The choir is a not-for-profit organisation, so to help cover costs, singers are charged £140 per 12 rehearsal block, or £110 if they join before September 1. Students can join for £70. To register interest, visit www.singitloud.co.uk
