Aldi set to put forward new store plans in Leamington

Plans are being discussed to replace Aldi's existing store with a new store on nearby land.

The supermarket chain wants to build a new, bigger store on land occupied by the former Mothercare store, at Shires Retail Park,

The new store would replace Aldi’s existing store nextdoor with a larger sales area and increased parking provision.

Aldi has written to over 2,000 local properties inviting them to attend its virtual public exhibition by visiting the www.aldiconsultation.co.uk/leamingtonspa.

The virtual exhibition will run from Wednesday December 16 – Wednesday December 23 with a live chat feature hosted between 1pm – 5pm on Thursday December 17.

People will be able to view the plans and provide their feedback via an online questionnaire.

Aldi hopes that the plans will bring more jobs to the area.

Hamish Latchem, Aldi’s regional property director, said: “We are delighted to announce our plans to open a new Aldi food store in Leamington Spa.

We have seen a growing number of customers at our existing store and need new premises to ensure we can continue to meet local demand.

“Our plans to redevelop the former Mothercare store will offer customers an improved shopping experience and ensure we can continue to provide our award-winning products and fresh produce to the town.

“We want to hear from local people before we submit a planning application to Warwick District Council, and I’d encourage residents to attend our virtual public exhibition and let us know their views on the proposals.
