Debenhams said last week that a number of stores might close, but added today: "Debenhams can confirm that its store in Leamington Spa will not be reopening, following our inability to agree appropriate terms with the landlord of the building.

"We’d like to thank our colleagues and customers at what we know is a difficult time for everyone."

Debenhams says it has struck deals with landlords to keep most of its 142 stores open after it fell into administration last week.

But the seven stores that will not be reopening are:

Truro

Stratford-upon-Avon

Salisbury

Westfield

Warrington

Leamington

South Shields

Debenhams went on to add: "422 colleagues across the seven stores will be affected and have been informed."
