Heartbreaking figures reveal how many people in specific Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth wards died due to Covid-19 in 2020
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has complied the data for each area
174 people have died due to Covid-19 in and around Leamington, Warwick, Kenilworth and Southam in 2020.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has complied the data, covering the start of the pandemic and up until the end of December.
They state that the deaths they have recorded are where COVID-19 was the underlying cause of death.
Sadly, the figures is likely to be higher once the numbers from January are included, as January saw a high rise in cases across the country.
In total, 121 people were registered as dying with Covid-19 in Leamington, Lillington, Whitnash, Warwick and Kenilworth.
Added together with the surrounding rural areas, the total stands at 174.
This means, of course, that many thousands of people recovered from the virus. Many had little or no symptoms - but unfortunately there are no figures for these specific categories.
Another positive note is that many thousands of people have now been vaccinated, or are waiting for their second vaccination.
The latest figures show that 64,667 people in Coventry and Warwickshire have had either one of two injections, up to January 17. That figure is now likely to be a lot higher and hopefully the NHS will soon be releasing more data on these numbers.
