Great music from top musicians

One of Britain's favourite violinists and an internationally acclaimed soprano will help bring some of the world's greatest music to Warwick in the nest few weeks.

Warwick-based choir, orchestra and opera company Armonico Consort presents JS Bach’s The Wedding Cantata and Other Great Soprano Cantatas at the Court House in Jury Street, Warwick on Thursday March 17.

The choir and baroque players will be joined by Gillian Keith, a Canadian soprano who has performed a number of times with the English National Opera, sung at the Royal Opera House and appeared at the BBC Proms. The programme includes Ich habe genug BWV 82a; O holder Tag, erwünschte Zeit BWV 210; a movement from The Wedding Cantata and the Marcello Oboe Concerto.

Classical Brit Award-winning violinist Nicola Benedetti joins Armonico Consort at St Mary’s church, Warwick on Monday April 25 at 7.30pm for a concert of Vivaldi and Mozart Concertos coupled with Mozart’s Solemn Vespers.

It features Vivaldi’sViolin Concerto in D minor RV 235, Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in D major RV 211, Mozart’s Solemn Vespers and Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 5 in A major K219.

Then later in spring, wine critic and former choral singer Oz Clarke investigates the links between wine from around the world and the music of the Baroque from Bach, Purcell and Vivaldi to South America. He will be joined by soprano Eloise Irving, soprano and countertenor William Towers at Warwick Castle on Tuesday May 17 at 7.30pm.
