Baby rescued from fire in Warwick

Two people and a baby were rescued from a fire in Warwick today (Monday September 21).

The fire started in the kitchen of a first floor flat in Birch Meadow Close in Warwick at about 3.30pm.

Firefighters said the family in the flat had managed to get out before the emergency services arrived but the family in the flat above were caught in heavy smoke and had to be led to safety by firefighters.

The crew from Leamington were able to put out the fire while firefighters from Kenilworth carried out a search and rescued the two adults and baby, who were then handed over to paramedics.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews used positive pressure ventilation fans to clear the smoke from the building."
