Brass players are honoured

Brass band musicians celebrated two golden anniversaries with a concert in Leamington on Sunday.

Royal Spa Brass conductor Paul Russell and baritone player Ken Owen have each given 50 years to playing with the group.

Both began playing in 1956, when Paul joined after following his friend Ken to practice. Although he did not play an instrument, he learnt the cornet and became the band's conductor when he restarted the then Royal Leamington Spa Silver Band in 1973.
