Organiser Jackie Hodge said: “The companion dog show should be an excellent family event and we look forward to holding it at The Kennel Club at Stoneleigh Park.

“There will be eight pedigree-style classes and nine fun classes which are open to anyone who would like to take part.

Dog owners do not have to enter in advance - they can turn up on the day to register, and spectators are also welcome to watch the show.

“There will be rings both inside and outside weather permitting, so we are hoping it stays dry on the day.

“We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for what is an excellent cause.”

Both pedigree and novelty classes will be open to all on the day, with categories open for puppies right through to veteran dogs.

Entries will be taken from 11am, with judging starting at midday, and anyone is welcome to enter their dog.

Barbara Cherry will be judging the pedigree classes which include AV puppy, AV junior, AV gun dog, AV terrier/hound, AV veteran and AV open.

Jayne Tong is the judge for the novelty classes, which will include the waggiest tail, child handling, best rescue and best titbit catcher.

The event will also include stalls, games and hot and cold refreshments, including a barbecue served up by Stoneleigh Park’s Farmers Fayre.

Colin Hooper, Stoneleigh Park estate director, said: “Dog shows are always very popular events at Stoneleigh Park and I’m sure that this one will be no different.

“We look forward to welcoming dog owners and their companions as well as animal loving spectators for what should be a fun family event.”

Admission is free. Entry to the classes is £2 for each dog’s first entry, and £1 for subsequent entries.
