A cigarette thrown from a vehicle was the most likely cause of a fire by the side of the road near Gaydon.

That's the view of firefighters who were called to the fire on the embankment of the M40 near Gaydon yesterday (Monday).

"Please be careful to discard items in a safe manner," said a fire service spokesperson.
