More lambs have been killed in the Warwick and Leamington area - and police believe the offenders may have links to fishing on the River Leam.

The Warwickshire Rural Crime Team has been to the scene of two further incidents involving the illegal butchering of lambs on private farm land over the last week.

Both incidents took place on land off Myton Road in Warwick with four lambs butchered and only their fleeces left behind.

PC Andy King, at the Warwickshire Rural Crime Team, said: "We suspect the offenders may have links to fishing on the River Leam.

"Following an extensive search of the area, items have been seized for DNA analysis.

"This sort of offence falls under Operation Hillman and is still a regional priority.

"Our work this year has seen a significant reduction in offences and we are still awaiting trial for an offender charged in relation to a warrant executed in Northampton.
