Police are investigating the circumstances around why a Kineton man's missing cat returned home with nearly all its fur shaved off its body.

Harry Hudson took to social media over the weekend and posted a picture of his cat, Monty, in a couple of Kineton area community Facebook group pages after he had gone missing.

He said: "He seems OK in himself, there are a few cuts on him and his fur is a complete mess. I do think it’s malicious."

Harry made a follow up post on Facebook to make locals aware of what had happened to Monty.

The way his cat has been mistreated by someone has left Harry with lots of questions.

He said: "I have no words. How could somebody do this, I just don’t understand?"

Harry reported the incident to Warwickshire Police yesterday, Monday March 1.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police confirmed they are investigating the circumstances around the incident, which left Monty's body nearly fully shaven apart from the head and tail.

Monty has now been checked over by an area vet, and was physically OK.
