Deaf group bring floral cheer to Leamington Fire Station
A community group made up of people who are profoundly deaf has brightened up the entrance to Leamington Fire Station by planting dozens of colourful flowers.
The Leamington-based Deafinitely Independent provides housing services to members, who are also encouraged to improve their life skills and overcome any difficulties they may have.
During the visit, three care staff were on hand to support the group and used signing skills to communicate messages.
Chief Fire Officer Andy Hickmott, Warwick district Station Commander Cecil Benjamin, firefighter Mick Rulli and Response Commander Andrew Paxton also spoke to the group about the importance of having deaf fire alarms fitted and regular home fire safety checks.
Cecil said: “We are delighted to have met the group and we are extremely grateful for the fantastic work they have done with brightening up the outside of the fire station. Their visit was a fantastic learning and development opportunity for all involved and we hope to work with them again soon.”
