The car, a Kia Soul EV driven by motoring journalist Jess Shanahan, drove through the town on Tuesday April 12 as part of its ‘Route 57’ tour. Jess was welcomed by Warwick mayor Cllr Mandy Littlejohn.

The route, designed by Jurys Inn Hotels as the UK and Ireland’s answer to Route 66 and to encourage people to explore the British Isles, starts in Plymouth and ends in Galway in Ireland.

Jess started her journey on Wednesday April 6 and aims to finish in Galway on Tuesday April 26.

The challenge was designed to debunk apparent myths about electric cars, such as their perceived lack of range found in a survey recently conducted by the AA.

Jess will be posting updates on the Route 57 website www.route57.org.uk along with Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

She will also be taking driving music suggestions through the Twitter hashtag #route57. Audiobook suggestions are also welcome.
