The nursery, which opened in Chase Meadow Square in February, hosted a family fun day on Saturday morning.

The day started with an outdoor ‘nature tots’ session, which was run by the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. The educational programme took children around the nursery’s garden areas to learn about wildlife.

Children were also able to take part in bark rubbing, hide and seek and sampled some of the smells of different habitats around the world.

Childcare practitioners in the pre-school room also showcased a new learning enhancement designed by the Busy Bees childcare team to improve maths and problem solving skills in children aged 0 to five-years-old.

Parents were given the opportunity to see the programme first-hand and take part in the activities with their children and understand how maths can be weaved into play and everyday life.

Head Chef at the nursery, Wayne Price, was also on hand throughout the day providing platters of savoury and sweet tasters as well as answering parents’ questions around his menu.

“There was lots of positive feedback from parents on the day, which we were so happy with. They loved the new maths enhancement and there was a little something for everyone.

“Special thanks must go to my dedicated staff team for all their efforts to organise and run the event as well as Emma and her team at the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust for putting on the fantastic nature tots sessions.”

Vicky Dunne, education manager at the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, said: “The nature tots sessions allow children to explore the great outdoors and find out more about the wildlife around them in an interactive and exciting way.

“By learning about animals and the food they eat, the children can better appreciate the environment around them and it gives them the confidence to explore by themselves when out and about in their local parks, green areas or in the garden at home.”
