Fire crews called to three fires over the bank holiday weekend

Firefighters have been called to three fires over the bank holiday weekend - involving a house, car and caravan.

This morning (Monday) Warwickshire Fire and Rescue sent an engine from Southam to put out a car fire in Birdingbury Road near the village of Marton at about 5.40am. One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Just before 1am yesterday (Sunday), they were called to a house fire in Priors Marston Road, Napton on the Hill. No casaulties were reported but firefighters said there was smoke damage to the house.

And ten minutes before that, they had to put out a caravan on fire behind the shops in St Margaret’s Road, Leamington.

A spokesperson said: “This incident involved a caravan well alight and the fire had affected the adjoining garages. Fire crews used breathing apparatus, hose reels and covering jet to deal with this incident.”
