Funds raised to help family with costs of funeral for Warwick woman

A fundraising campaign has been launched to help the family of a 31-year-old Warwick woman who tragically died after a fire broke out.

The emergency services were called to the property at 8am and West Midlands Ambulance Service treated the 31-year-old, who had been rescued from the property by firefighters and was in cardiac arrest.

Despite the best efforts of the ambulance staff, Rebecca was confirmed as dead shortly after arriving at Warwick Hospital.

Fire crews believe the fire may have been started by an overloaded electrical socket.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Services fire investigation officer, Mark Allen, said: “An initial investigation into the fire suggests that the fire began in the bedroom and was started by an overloaded plug socket.”

Her friend Rebecca Haslam has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for the funeral so Rebecca’s family can give her the best possible send-off.

The GoFundMe page says: “Please help Rebecca Jane Finch have the best send-off she deserves.

“Rebecca was a beautiful person inside and out. She lit up the room wherever she went with her bright smile and her bubbly personality with great laughter, Rebecca always lifted others up even when she was down herself.

“Despite her own struggles in life she always helped others in need and did what ever she could do to help anyone in life. Rebecca sadly passed away at the age of just 31 due to a fire in her home caused by an overloaded plug socket.

“Rebecca passed away peacefully in her sleep due to smoke inhalation, the fire did not touch Rebecca’s body. Thank God.

“Rebecca has gone far too soon, she was so young and had her whole life ahead of her. I am asking people to please help Rebecca and her family by donating towards the costs of her funeral no matter how much even. If it’s pounds or pennies it doesn’t matter, every penny helps. Her family will be very grateful of your help.

“Instead of sending flowers please could you make a donation to this fund.

“Please pray for her family at this sad time and her mother, as no mother should have to say goodbye to their child and go through this pain.

“Rebecca is in no pain now and is happy and free, she is a angel of God now and at peace. She will be sadly missed by so many people, she was loved deeply by many.”
