Nadim Zahawi has held the Stratford-on-Avon constituency for the Conservative Party.

Mr Zahawi almost doubled his majority of 11,346 in 2010 to 22,876 as support for the Liberal Democrats collapsed in line with the party’s national failure.

The Conservative candidate received 29,674 votes, with his nearest contender, UKIP’s Edward Fila, returning 6,798 votes.

Only the Green Party performed worse than the Liberal Democrats, who saw their support drop from 14,706 five years ago to 6,182 on a disastrous night for the party.

Full results were:

Nadhim Zahawi (Con) - 29,674

Jeff Kenner (Lab) - 6,677

Elizabeth Adams (Lib Dem) - 6,182
