Fundraiser Derek Reynolds is organising a sports quiz to take place at Warwick School's new hall in January with at least 500 participants needed to stand a chance of the record being achieved.

'To achieve the record we need at least 500 people so it is pretty large scale.

'We're seeking sponsors of rounds in the quiz and raffle and auction prizes.

'We're also seeking sporting celebrities to either participate or film themselves asking a question for us to use.'

The event will raise money for two charities - The Myton Hospices and Jack's Rainbow, a charity which is aiming to provide a caravan where families who have lost a child can go for a free holiday,

Jack's Rainbow is particularly close to Mr Reynold's heart as his daughter Ruby died shortly after she was born in 2010.

Last year he raised money for the cause by carrying our a ten-pin bowling challenge.

He said: 'He said: 'I love this campaign because you will be able to see exactly what the money donated has been used for, and hopefully it will help bereaved families for years to come.

'I feel an affinity with this charity as the little boy it is named after sadly died the very day after we lost Ruby, and also our little boy is called Jack.'

The overall aim of Jack's Rainbow's current campaign is to raise £25,000 to buy a caravan where bereaved families can go for a free holiday, and cover the first year's running costs at the Haven site in Cornwall. Mr Reynolds said: 'The site where the van will be is in Perranporth, Cornwall, which is somewhere I am very familiar with from previous holidays and cricket tours.'
