A determined team of 300 workers from technology company Telent set themselves the Challenge 1100 to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Staff based at Haywood Road could chose a distance, and how to complete it, with just one aim - complete the 1,100km-long sports relay to raise £100,000.

Starting the journey in London, the team of 300 had a goal to make it back to Warwick within seven days, visiting a selection of the company’s offices across the UK on their way up the country.

And by cycling, running and walking their way to the target, the team has returned triumphant with an impressive total of almost £67,000 raised to date.

Telent CEO Mark Plato, said they could not be more proud of the efforts put in by everyone so far.

“We were very excited to take on this mammoth challenge,” he said.

“It is to celebrate Telent’s 10th anniversary and raise money for Macmillan.

“It was our biggest challenge yet and I’m delighted that so many staff, as well as some of our customers, are getting behind it.

“Every penny counts, no matter how small.

“Macmillan is an extremely important charity as many of us will be affected by cancer in some way during our lives and we’re asking people to dig deep to support the charity’s ongoing efforts.”

The mammoth challenge was launched in a bid by the company to help combat a disease which affects more than 19,300 people across Warwickshire.

“They raised over £67,000 from the challenge which is an absolutely incredible amount.

“The money raised will go such a long way to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

“Everyone at Macmillan really does appreciate all their efforts and the hard work taking place behind the scenes, in order for this mammoth challenge to take place.”
