Kavana will headline Warwickshire Pride event in August

Warwickshire Pride's organisers have announced that 90s pop star Kavana will be the headline act for the festival in Leamington in the summer.

Kavana had a string of hit singles in the late 1990’s and has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years after being part of ITV2’s The Big Reunion in 2013 and appearing on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.

Now in its fifth year, Warwickshire Pride celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life and culture with colourful stalls, live performances and attractions such as fairground rides.

Warwickshire Pride’s chair of trustees, Daniel Browne, said: “Warwickshire Pride returns to the Pump Room Gardens this August and will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the decriminilisation of homosexuality in England.

“As part of this year’s Pride celebrations, we are thrilled to announce Kavana as one of our headline acts. We strive to book at least one well-known performer each year to give local people the opportunity to enjoy some great, free entertainment, and in keeping with that we are excited to be welcoming a performer who has enjoyed huge success with hit singles and a successful stage career.

“This year’s festival is looking to be the best yet, with kind support from Leamington Town Council and one of our sponsors, Mister V, being on board for the third year in a row.

“There are certainly more big announcements to come as the festival draws closer and we look forward to welcoming everyone in August.”

The event takes place at the Pump Room Gardens on Saturday August 19.
