The LAA Runners was launched by coach Rachel Berney, founder of Leamington Athletics Academy (LAA) track and field club.

The club is aimed at ten to 16-year-olds of any running ability - although parents are welcome to join in on runs.

Rachel said: “Every year, hundreds of kids enter school cross country events and love it. After the competitions, the only outlet is track and field clubs, which historically have been a bit elitist.

“We just want to provide age-appropriate running for children.“

The group meets every Tuesday at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre car park at 6.45pm and each session lasts for around 45 minutes (3-5km).

Rachel added: “We just want to share the love of sport with everyone, whatever their ability or ambition.

“With this in mind, LAA Runners is encouraging parents/carers to join the group with their children - although we may push them a little harder!”

Places cost £1 per session and hi-vis vests are provided for runners who are under 18.
