Warwickshire County Council’s regulatory committee approved the plans for land off Harbury Lane on Wednesday to eventually welcome 420 pupils.

And the build will now go ahead in two phases - with the new school being opened as a one-form entry primary with capacity for 210 pupils - ready to increase once the development is full.

Hundreds of homes on the new development site are now nearing completion, as part of a larger residential development for 785 new houses.

The new school will bring 16 new classrooms including a nursery, kitchen and office spaces to cater for the increase and bring education to families.

After both building phases are complete the teaching space would cater for 420 pupils - 26 of nursery age.

There will also be jobs for 28 full-time staff and 20 part- time workers.

The school would open in September 2017 when it is expected new families would have moved to the site to fill the classroom spaces.

The school build is part of a larger growth for Warwick Gates which was granted outline planning permission in 2014 for 785 dwellings, accessed from Europa Way and Harbury Lane, as well as shops and community buildings and the primary school.

Access to the school by car would be made possible to the south of the site, with secure gates which would be closed during the school day.

The build would also include cycle parking for 40 bikes at various locations.
