Here are the winners of Warwickshire-based charity Kissing It Better's poetry competition for schoolchildren

Children in Warwickshire have been lighting up lockdown for residents of Leycester House Care Home in Warwick with poems .

Warwickshire-based charity, Kissing it Better, organised a poetry competition with the theme ‘What Happiness Means to Me’.

More than 70 children, aged six to 18, sent in their entries, which were judged by members of Leycester House Poetry Club.

The winners will appear at the next poetry club meeting, over zoom, to read their work.

“The residents have been delighted by the amazing response, and touched that so many children took the time to think of brightening the day for them,” said Caty Oates of Kissing it Better.

“The quality of writing is incredibly high. Residents were impressed with the powerful imagery in many of the children’s poems.”

Winners in the seven to 10 age group were: Anderson Pegler and Ella Ward, both from Woodloes Primary School.

Winners in the 11 to 14 age group were: Natalie Saternus from Trinity School and Chloe Potts from Princethorpe College.

Winners in the 15 to 18 age group were: Bridey Bingley from North Leamington School and Jessica Bryn from Rugby High School.
