Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan garden named as one of the 'most Instagrammable' gardens in the UK

Kenilworth Castle and its Elizabethan garden have been named as one of the 'most Instagrammable gardens in the UK.

The list has been compiled by Direct2Florist ahead of people deciding where to go for a visit in the UK post-lockdown.

The business has listed the '20 most Instagrammable UK gardens to visit post-lockdown' (photos that would do well on the social media image sharing site Instagram) - and the Kenilworth landmark made it into the top 10.

The Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, came out on top with 48,144 tags with Alnwick Garden in Northumberland coming in at seconds with 27,549, and Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden at third with 20,871.

Dean Chandler, operations manager at English Heritage, said: “With 900 years of history behind it, it’s easy to see how Kenilworth Castle is so instagrammable.

"The red sandstone ruins look stunning at any time of the year of the year but particularly in summer when the newly refreshed Elizabethan garden is in full bloom.

"Autumn sees the change of the leaves turning them vibrant reds and oranges - and the keep looks beautiful in the snow.

"During the summer we play host to a series of fun and colourful events which always capture the imagination of our audiences and we are looking forward to restarting these from late June.

"Although the interiors of the property have remained closed, locals’ have been able to use the grounds for daily exercise throughout the lockdown.

"We are looking forward to re-opening the interiors from mid-May.”
