The team says that the last three months have been the most challenging time in the practice’s twenty-year history, due to coronavirus restrictions.

Despite this, Keith Murphy Opticians has remained open throughout lockdown, serving their patients and providing emergency and essential eyecare throughout the crisis.

They have provided home deliveries for those shielding or unable to leave their homes and developed their website with a new eCommerce section, which enabled customers to order replacement glasses online and have them delivered to their door.

As restrictions are easing, they have been able to see more patients, implementing strict infection control measures and social distancing.

They say that their technology, especially their Optomap, has enabled them to provide examinations without prolonged close contact.

Optometrist and co-founder Keith Murphy said: “When we first opened the doors, I had two part-time reception staff working on one floor. Now, we have grown to a team of ten and operate over two floors, seeing around 100 people each week.

“Reaching this milestone as the only remaining independent opticians in Kenilworth is something we are very proud of, and we can only thank the community for supporting us over the last 20 years.

“I think I speak for all of my team members when I say it’s been a pleasure to serve our patients’ vision care needs, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with them in person soon, once restrictions are lifted.”
