If approved, the project to create Tachbrook Country Park, a new 56-hectare public space on land between Bishop’s Tachbrook, Leamington Spa and Warwick will be taken to the next stage.

The latest proposals follow two public consultations, which took place between November 2019 and June 2020 receiving more than 2200 responses.

The results have been incorporated into a masterplan, which has been drawn up in collaboration with Bishop’s Tachbrook Parish Council.

Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services Councillor Alan Rhead commented:“Despite having to cancel the planned face to face events due to COVID-19, we’re very pleased with the high level of response we received to the online surveys.

"It’s clear, from the consultation that there is overwhelming support to create a Country Park for the local community with access for walking, safe traffic-free cycling, natural play areas and a central refreshment hub.

"We also know that the public is looking to us to encourage wildlife and biodiversity on the land and to set up communal food growing areas.

"This project is not only an important element of our Local Plan but also a significant contribution to our Climate Emergency Action Plan.”

The Chairman of Bishop’s Tachbrook Parish Council Matt Greene added: “The development of the new Country Park is vitally important to our parish.

"Not only will it provide a wonderful public open space for a wide range of recreational activities, it will also strengthen and provide new connections, linking our parish's settlements and the local amenities such as our schools.

"We also hope this will encourage more walking and cycling and reduced car use. We are proud to be part of the project team and look forward to the grand opening with the realisation of this vision for our community.”
