Leamington residents will have their say on whether to adopt the Neighbourhood Plan for the town at a referendum in May .

The plan, finalised after wide-ranging consultations, passed examination last year and is now being submitted to referendum for local people to vote on the adoption of the policies.

If more than 50 per cent of those voting support the plan, then this will become a formally adopted document that will be a significant material consideration in all future planning decisions for the town.

Leamington will also benefit from increased developer contributions for investment in local infrastructure and projects – known as the Community Infrastructure Levy.

Leamington Town Council said: "The Plan is a bespoke land use plan for Leamington Spa, providing specific policies just for the town itself.

"A vote for the plan will help protect 28 parks and green spaces from future development, support a robust, accessible and sympathetic Creative Quarter redevelopment, promote higher housing design standards, encourage appropriate brownfield usage, support the use of sustainable travel and help protect our existing community facilities.
