A cookery teacher from Warwick Gates helped to raise money for the foodbank with a curry cook along event last week.

Since then she has gone on to run cooking classes across the Warwick district but because of the pandemic she has had to adapt to hosting online classes.

Last Thursday (June 11) Anne Marie hosted the cook along event, where people could 'pay as they feel' to take part, which went to the Warwick District Foodbank.

The session used ingredients 'typically found in a foodbank parcel and in people’s cupboards'.

Anne Marie said: " We had 13 people joining in and it was really good fun.

"I think it went really well. A few people were surprised how easy it was to make a tasty meal for four adults for less than £1.50 and included all food groups.

"We had a lot of interaction between everyone and great to see people busy in the kitchen.

"I would be happy to help other charities raise funds cooking over Zoom. I have already provided sessions for Warwickshire Young Carers and Entrust locally.

"It is great to be helping the foodbank, which will helps provide provisions for families struggling at the moment as there has been a sharp rise in usage.

"I really enjoy bringing people together through food and I want to show you don't need fancy ingredients to make tasty food, it's also about connecting with people.

"I am currently offering group Zoom cook alongs for family and friends to help them stay connected in a fun way and share a common meal together. "
