Person killed in A46 crash near Leek Wootton

A person died following a crash on the A46 near Leek Wootton yesterday (Friday) evening.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it dispatched an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and a paramedic area support officer to the incident on the A46 shortly after 5.25pm.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “On arrival at the scene crews found a car that had collided with a lorry in a lay-by.

“Sadly, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the driver of the car and they were confirmed deceased at the scene.

“No further occupants were found in either the car or the lorry.”

There are no further details at present.

The northbound A46 was closed from junction 15 of the M40 to the A452 for recovery work and emergency repairs to the road, causing lengthy local traffic delays.
