Shoppers at Sainsbury’s in Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth this week will be able to pick up some useful fire safety advice along with their groceries.
Firefighters from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service are handing out leaflets and inviting people to request a free home fire safety check at Sainsbury’s stores across the county until Saturday (October 17).
Moreno Francioso, community fire prevention manager, said: “We’re delighted to be working together with Sainsbury’s to help get across key safety messages to the people of Warwickshire.
“Engaging with residents and people who run businesses in a community setting like this is a vital part of our ongoing preventative work to reduce fire-related incidents and keep people safe.
“We’ll also be taking the opportunity to remind people how to celebrate safely, with Halloween and bonfire night just around the corner.”
County councillor John Horner, responsbile for policy on community safety across the county, said: “This is an excellent way for people to meet their local firefighters and find out how they can reduce the risk of fire in the home. We hope lots of people will take the opportunity to chat to the crews while they’re doing their shopping.”
