Person injured in a hit-and-run collision near Jephson Gardens

A person was injured in a hit-and-run collision near Jephson Gardens.

Police have not confirmed it is was a man or woman or how old they were - but onlookers said it was a woman.

The incident happened at about 12.30pm in Newbold Street, near the junction of Newbold Terrace.

Officers said the driver left the scene.

The person has suffered a leg injury but was conscious and talking as she was taken to hospital

Note: Initially police believed the incident was related to arrests made as part of an armed robbery but they have since corrected that statement.
