Police investigate Warwick canal path robbery

Police are investigating a robbery which took place on the tow path of the Grand Union Canal in Warwick.

The incident happened along the tow path at the rear of Lidl near Myton Road on Thursday July 7 between 1.30pm to 2pm.

The victim, a 36-year-old man had been walking along the canal when he stopped to pick up his mobile phone.

It is at this point that he was approached and pushed from behind to the floor by an unknown man.

One of the suspects stole the victim’s wallet which had a large amount of money in it and when he tried to get it back, a second man prevented him doing so.

The victim then fled from the area after being threatened with being forced into the canal.

The first suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, around 5ft 8in in height and stocky build with dark brown hair.

He had been wearing a Nike black tracksuit.

The second suspect - a mixed race man believed to be in his late 20s of a slim build - was wearing jeans a dark blue jacket and a dark hat.

The victim has also seen a woman who had been with the offenders; she is described as having long dark brown hair and wearing a white flowery blouse.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who was within the area or has any information which would help them with their enquiries.
