Police officer who made indecent image of child dismissed from force

A Warwickshire Police officer who was jailed for making an indecent image of a child and to having an inappropriate relationship with a vulnerable woman while on duty has been dismissed for gross misconduct.

Balraj Paul, 30, was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison on Thursday June 2 for the offences.

And the public misconduct hearing held on Friday June 10, led by chief constable Martin Jelley, found Paul’s actions to be ‘far below’ of what is expected from police officers.

Head of professional standards Detective Superintendent Gary Watson said: “The misconduct hearing found the behaviour of Balraj Paul fell far below the standards we expect from our officers and staff and amounted to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour, namely Discreditable Conduct and Duties and Responsibilities.

“This fell outside the expectations made clear in our Code of Ethics and it is for this reason he was dismissed.”

The officer had completed 6 years service with Warwickshire Police before he was jailed.
