A wish list of improvements around Ryton-on-Dunsmore has been included in the village’s Neighbourhood Plan which was backed by Rugby Borough Council’s cabinet on Monday, September 8.

Councillors voted unanimously to support changes to the plan - which enables the community to put forward a vision and policies for future local development - suggested by an independent examiner.

A public consultation was held at the village school last summer and the next step is for a referendum to be held as soon as the government lifts restrictions although it is expected that these will remain in place until at least May 2021.

Within the plan, Ryton on Dunsmore Parish Council outlined where they hoped Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) payments or section 106 contributions could be directed.

These charges are applied to developments in the area and the funds are then used to contribute towards infrastructure requirements.

Listed among the parish council priorities were extra cycle lanes, the creation of outdoor gym activity stations, year-round access to the Village Water Meadow and cycle racks at key points in the village including outside the church, village hall and Co-Op store.

They also said there was a requirement for the conversion or fitting out of an appropriate space for use as a surgery or clinic.
