Rugby man killed following attack outside Leamington bar is named

The Rugby man who died after being assaulted in Leamington on Saturday night has been formally named.

Robert Bavington, aged 28 from Rugby, died in hospital yesterday morning (Sunday) following the attack in Russell Street. Mr Bavington’s family have asked that their privacy is respected at this time.

Mr Bavington was assaulted outside the Moo Bar at approximately 1.20am on Sunday morning. He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries but later died. Floral tributes and messages of goodwill have since been left at the scene of the incident.

A 30 year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. One man has been released without charge.
