A sea of purple fundraisers took to Warwick Castle to complete a 5k course. The event on March 20 provided people with the perfect motivation to get fit after Christmas while helping to conquer stroke.

Katrin Winstanley, events manager at the Stroke Association, said: “With around 152,000 strokes a year in the UK – that’s around one every three-and-a-half minutes - it is vital that we have people like our Resolution Runners to raise funds and help us conquer stroke.

“We’re extremely grateful to everyone who took part – it was a fantastic turn out and a great day for everyone involved. The money raised will fund vital research and support, as well as help to prevent people from having a stroke.”

At least half of strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control and exercising more. The Stroke Association is the UK’s leading stroke charity, for details ring 0303 30 33 100 or visit www.stroke.org.uk.
