HS2 announced the move yesterday (Thursday) and the five-day closure starts today (Friday).

HS2 said:"We sincerely apologise for the late notice, however, we are writing to advise that LM needs to undertake some urgent works to repair a manufacturing fault within a cable joint on Bascote Road as part of the TBM utility works.

"This means that Bascote Road will need to be closed from Friday February 12 for five days between the Welsh Road junction and the A425. Undertaking the works now will aim to avoid the need for any future disruption to the local community.

"Access will still be maintained for households and businesses along the road and a clearly signposted diversion will be in place. All traffic management will be lifted once works are complete.

"HS2 have noted the concerns raised regarding adequate signage for road users and it has requested that the road closure/diversion signs are reviewed."
