VIDEO: Women's Tour races through Warwick

The 69 racers - including world champion Lizzie Armitstead and reigning tour champion Lisa Brennauer - made their way along Saltisford, Northgate Street, Old Square, Market Place, Bowling Green Street and High Street.

The peloton then continued down Castle Hill and Banbury Road on it’s way to the stage finish in Stratford.

After arriving in the town at around 11.15am, the tour is making its way right across Warwickshire in the second stage of five days of racing.

The 140-kilometres route is the longest of the contest, and with the amount of climbing involved across the county, is expected to be an early indicator of who could win the Aviva Yellow Jersey.

Crowds gathered across Warwick for the day, with pupils from Westgate and King’s High getting out to cheer the women through the town.

And with events for families and supports in Market Place, the day was described as a “great success” by organisers.
