Many people experiencing crisis in south Warwickshire over the Christmas period were able to tuck into donated food and drink, thanks to the efforts of staff at Warwick boiler firm Baxi.
Staff at the site collected more than 60kg of food and provided secure storage for around 400 crates for the Warwick and Leamington Foodbank.
The foodbank’s operations manager Andy Bower said: “This generous offer means that we are able to have just one central off-site storage area rather than using four much smaller sites. And it is only a mile from our small distribution warehouse in Warwick.”
Baxi’s senior stock controller Karen Bell raised the money needed to buy the caging for the storage area by selling scrap metal that had been cluttering up the warehouse.
She said: “We needed to get rid of the rubbish and were delighted to be able to use the money it raised to buy purpose-made fencing to make the area secure.”
