The Old Post Office will host regional heats for the competition from Tuesday (March 15) and everyone is invited to try their luck to be crowned the UK’s king or queen of games.

Games ready to take on in the town next week include Jenga, Guess Who, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit and Connect 4.

And the West Street pub is calling on game-lovers from across the town to show that they have the fastest thinking and sharpest mind.

The contest will run up to March 20 as part of National Board Games Week - after which each pub will submit their top five players’ scores to food company, Pork Farms.

Winners of the heats will then come together for the quarter-finals in Kent later this year.

Micropub Association co-founder, Stu Hirst, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be part of this exciting national initiative.

“We will be sorely disappointed if our regulars didn’t spill more than a pint or two of good ale over the spin of a dice or the drop of a counter.”
