Firm basis for a resolution

Although I never make New Year’s resolutions (unless to refrain from writing to the Courier for a month), I would like to suggest one, easy to fulfil, of which other English-speakers might avail themselves: to resolve never to say “on a daily basis”, “on a regular basis”, or anything else “on a....basis”.

“Daily” or “regularly” are enough. Why waste ink or breath?
